So here is a quick tutorial on how to write simple HTML.

HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language and is used as the “structure” code for your website.

Create a file called index.html

Once you have done this copy and paste the following code in to your file.

<!DOCTYPE HTML/>

<head>

<title>Simple HTML</title>

</head>

<body>

<h1>Hello World!</h1>

</body>

So the above code has two parts, Head and Body.

In the <head> we can enter the title of the webpage, this will be displayed within the tab of the browser. We can also have links to include CSS files but we will get on to this in another tutorial.

In the <body> we can enter the content of our website such as text, images & videos. In the example above the have entered a header holding the text “Hello World!”. We can define a header by using <h tags and then we add a number, 1-6, to further define the type of header we want, In this case we have used <h1> tags, the 1 typically means the largest header and our browser will style this to its default spec.

Now go to your file and open it in your browser of choice.

Congrats! you have now created your first web page using HTML!
